La Romana is proclaimed champion in volleyball tournament  

La Romana.-  La Romana Voleibol Club was proclaimed champion this weekend of the seventh edition of the Romana International Voleibol Open 2025 club tournament (Rivo). The Romanians easily dominated their three days of competitions to lift the trophy in the tournament that brought together 37 teams from the four participating countries, namely Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico and the host Dominican Republic. In addition to dominating the +18 category, they also took the crown in the 9-10 and 15-16 categories of the tournament organized by the Volleyball Association of La Romana (Asovolaro), which has been held since 2017. On the other hand, the Thunder Volleyball Club (Colombia) was the most outstanding in the 13-14 and 15-16 categories, in the men's division.

With these events we continue to bet on the development of Sports Tourism in our country and, especially in La Romana, a tourist, Olympic and Sports province”, expressed Amós Anglada, organizer of the event that this year had the visit of the Prodigioso club from Sabana Grande (Puerto Rico); Becerras from Baja California (Mexico); the Thunder Volleyball Club (Colombia). The Rivo 2025 was held on the courts of the Max Simón Volleyball Pavilion, Virgilio Castillo (Chola) and the Eleoncio Mercedes sports complex.
