David Collado delivers renovated Marcelino Marte "Canito" Plaza, in Guayacanes

San Pedro. - The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated this Sunday the reconstruction of Plaza Marcelino Marte (Canito) in Guayacanes, built for an amount exceeding 32 million pesos. The reconstruction of the square, popularly known as Parque Canito, has a total intervention area of 4,028 square meters. From that space, the reconstruction of 1,362 square meters of cobblestone road is found, throughout the perimeter of the park, the square of 1,146 square meters, in addition, of the park. Minister Collado stated that the work is an old demand of the community, turned into an attractive place of recreation for residents and visitors.

"Con el rescate de este simbólico parque cumplimos con nuestra promesa y atendemos la solicitud que por años había realizado la comunidad”, dijo el ministro de Turismo.

Collado assured that works like this have a direct impact on the community and "that is an essential reason for the development of tourism". The work includes the reconstruction of the basketball court, the construction of new stands, the refurbishment of the surface and a sports lighting system for better use of the area. This intervention also includes the reconstruction of 580 square meters of sidewalk and 468 linear meters of curbs around the park. It will also include the construction of urban equipment, landscaping, signage, universal access ramps, and lighting to provide the community with a better recreational and sports space. The work was carried out by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), at a total cost of RD$32,599,344. In the inauguration ceremony, Minister Collado was accompanied by the main provincial and municipal authorities. Guayacanes is a municipality in the province of San Pedro de Macorís, which has the most popular beaches in the province, such as Guayacanes I and II, Caribe and Juan Dolio, Also, it has several restaurants, hotels, bars, golf courses, among other attractions and services, which make the place an excellent option to live or vacation, or simply spend an exceptional stay with family.
