MLB Recap: Cabrera Shows His Repertoire in Skubal's Dominant Day

Sports Writing, May 25 (EFE).- Dominican Edward Cabrera showed the best of his repertoire on a Sunday in the Major Leagues in which Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal put on a display of dominance from the mound.

ANGELINOS 0-3 MARLINS

Cabrera struck out 10 batters in 5.2 scoreless innings, and Venezuelan Javier Sanoja scored and drove in a run as the Miami Marlins shut out the Los Angeles Angels.

Dominican Jesús Sánchez drove in a run, his compatriot Otto López scored a run, and fellow Dominican Ronny Henríquez (1) retired the ninth inning without allowing any baserunners and struck out two rivals to earn the save.

Venezuelan Luis Rengifo hit a single for the Angels.

TIGERS 5-0 GUARDIANS

The stellar left-hander Tarik Skubal (5-3) showed his Cy Young Award-winning form, and this Sunday he pitched a complete game of just two hits, no runs allowed, and struck out 13 batters to lead the shutout victory of the Detroit Tigers against the Cleveland Guardians.

Venezuelan Gleyber Torres and Cuban Andy Ibáñez scored and drove in a run, and Puerto Rican Javier Báez added a run for the Tigers.

Dominican José Ramírez hit one of the Guardians' two hits in the game.

TWINS 1-2 REAL

Venezuelan Maikel Garcia drove in the run with which the Kansas City Royals broke the tie in the tenth inning and secured the victory over the Minnesota Twins.

Venezuelan Freddy Fermín drove in a run for the Royals, whose winning pitcher was Dominican Carlos Estévez (2-0), who pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out two batters.

The Quisqueyan Jhoan Durán (3-1) allowed García's hit in an inning on the mound and was the loser for the Athletics.

BRAVOS 3-5 PADRES

Dominican Manny Machado dispatched the ball from the park, Gavin Sheets and Jake Cronenworth also deposited the sphere over the wall in the victory of the San Diego Padres in their visit to the Braves in Atlanta.

Venezuelan Luis Arráez scored a run and his compatriot Robert Suárez (17) completed the ninth without allowing a run and earned the save for the Padres.

Curacao's Ozzie Albies scored and drove in a run, and Mexico's Alex Verdugo scored a run for the Braves.

CARDINALS 4-3 DIAMONDBACKS

Panamanian Ivan Herrera drove in two runs and Masyn Winn sent the ball over the wall and scored twice for the St. Louis Cardinals to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez drove in two runs and scored one, while Dominican Ketel Marte added a run for Arizona.

WHITE SOX 4-5 RANGERS

Jake Burger hit a home run, scored and drove in two runs, and Cuban Adolis García drove in two runs as the Texas Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox.

Cuban Miguel Vargas hit a home run and scored twice, and his countrymen Luis Robert and Edgar Quero added an RBI and a run batted in respectively for the White Sox.

ASTROS 5-3 MARINERS

Christian Walker hit a home run and drove in three runs, and Venezuelan José Altuve scored twice as the Houston Astros won their duel against the Seattle Mariners.

Mexican Isaac Paredes scored a run and Puerto Rican Víctor Caratini drove in a run for the Astros.

Dominican Julio Rodriguez scored two runs, Cuban Randy Arozarena added a run scored, and Colombian Donovan Solano drove in a run for the Mariners, who had six innings of three runs and six strikeouts from Dominican Luis Castillo.

NATIONALS 2-3 GIANTS

Dominican Willy Adames and Puerto Rican Heliot Ramos each drove in a run, and Venezuelan Wilmer Flores scored a run in the San Francisco Giants' victory over the Washington Nationals.
