It is a national platform that calls on young people to develop creative solutions to the specific challenges of their communities. Santo Domingo.- With the firm purpose of promoting leadership, innovation and the active participation of Dominican youth in the sustainable development of the country, the Ministry of Youth launched the ambitious project CREA RD: 10 Hackathons, 10 Regions, Many Solutions. Vice President Raquel Peña, valued the initiative as a transformative tool: “This is a determined, sustained and strategic commitment to the young talent of the Dominican Republic”, while announcing that the first step of CREA RD will be the Hackathon of Smart Cities and Urban Mobility in the National District, with the confidence that solutions can be born from youthful ingenuity, collaborative work, and the creative use of technology.

The project includes the realization of 10 regional hackathons, each aligned with local issues such as urban mobility, marine conservation, renewable energies, agro-industrial innovation, community tourism, among others. These days of creativity and innovation will bring together young people between 18 and 35 years old, who will work in multidisciplinary teams, receive mentoring and develop proposals that will be evaluated by experts.

In addition, the project will have a subsequent stage of technical support for the winning ideas, ensuring their implementation and sustainability in each region. The Vice Minister of Entrepreneurship, Fernando Lagares, highlighted the impact of this platform on the youth entrepreneurial ecosystem, "When our young people are given training, support and spaces to express themselves and build, not only do projects flourish, but also leadership and dreams flourish. It is our duty, as institutions, as society and as Government, to bet on that talent with vision, with structure and with decision."
