Santo Domingo – Dominican comedian Fausto Mata expressed his rejection of the bill seeking to regulate freedom of expression and audiovisual media in the country, expressing concern about the possible implications that this initiative could have.
Mata pointed out that this type of measures are a consequence of a lack of attention from governments in terms of education. “This has been the fault of many governments that have not cared about the education of this country and are hungry for vagrancy”, he stated.
The humorist also strongly criticized the inaction of some lawmakers. “There are deputies and senators who have been sitting there for four years and haven't contributed anything, only raising their salaries, and nobody knows the bills they've promoted,” he said.
