Father Ramón Alonso Beato, former rector of UCSD, passes away

Santo Domingo.- The Universidad Católica Santo Domingo (UCSD) reported the death of the former rector, Father Ramón Alonso Beato, in Salamanca, Spain, without reporting the cause of death.

Through its social media, the university highlighted the legacy and trajectory of the priest, who held the position for 29 years, from 1989 to 2013.

Father Alonso, as he was known by the university community, was awarded in 2028 the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in Humanities, for his invaluable career and contribution to the development of the Dominican educational system.

"Deja entre nosotros un legado de compromiso, sabiduría y servicio, y una enseñanza que resume su visión de vida: Hacer el bien es un buen negocio, porque el que lo hace casi siempre recibe más satisfacción que el que lo recibe", destaca la publicación.

The institution informs that they will hold a memorial Eucharist on Wednesday, June 11th, at the University Parish of Santa María de la Anunciación, located on the UCSD campus, on Bolívar Avenue.

About the Former Rector Father Ramón Alonso Beato:

Rector of the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo (from 1989 to 2013). He was an advisor to the Organization of Catholic Universities of Latin America, ODUCAL. Member of the National Education Council, advisor to the National Union of Catholic Schools, former advisor to the Executive Branch for Education Affairs, Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Zaragoza, among other functions.
