Taipei.- The founder and CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, assured this Friday that Taiwan should "expand its opportunities" with "agent artificial intelligence (AI)" and robotics to address its labor shortage problems, amid the expansion plans of his company on the island.

The businessman made these statements to a group of journalists before heading to Songshan Airport in Taipei, concluding a seven-day stay in Taiwan.

"(AI) can now think step by step and solve problems it has never seen before: it's called agent AI (...). The technology has also reached a level that allows us to incorporate robotics. Here in Taiwan we have very good ideas, but there are not enough people," Huang assured.

"Now, with artificial intelligence and robots, Taiwan can expand its opportunities," he added.

During his visit to Taiwan, Huang met with Nvidia's local partners and gave a speech at the Computex fair, one of the most important technology events in the world, where he announced his plans to build an artificial intelligence supercomputer in the south of the island with the help of TSMC -the world's leading chip manufacturer- and Foxconn -the largest assembler of electronic products-.

In an interview with the Taiwanese television channel TVBS, the executive urged the island's government to provide more energy resources to support the development of the AI industry in Taiwan.

"We will start with 20 megawatts this year and we quickly need to grow towards 100 megawatts. Our only limitation is the availability of energy and I really hope the Taiwanese government can help us with that," said Huang.
