Monte Cristi. – The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) brought its modern Immersive Dome to the municipality of Las Matas de Santa Cruz, with the aim of bringing new technologies closer to the population and disseminating the functions of the institution in a didactic and accessible way.
The space, located on the main street of the aforementioned municipality, is open to the public completely free of charge from last Friday, the 25th, until Sunday, May 4th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and will offer educational presentations, interactive exhibitions, and technological talks aimed at the public in general.

Inside, visitors learn about the evolution of telecommunications, the responsible use of technologies, and the services that INDOTEL makes available to citizens.
The president of the Board of Directors of Indotel, Guido Gómez Mazara, expressed that this project seeks to promote digital literacy, bring technological concepts in a friendly way to children, young people and adults to awaken in them the passion for careers related to technological science.
“This immersive experience is a way to contribute to the learning process and skills development of students so that they are competitive according to the demands of this century, which is why we are open to the initiative being replicated in other communities in the province,” he said.
Likewise, the telecommunications official pledged to work with local authorities to improve access to connectivity in the province.
"We can organize the issue of connectivity in primary care centers, hospitals, and detachments, but we are going to get together to find an inter-institutional solution, because technology has to reach people no matter what," he emphasized.
On his part, Representative Rosendy Polanco expressed his gratitude to Indotel and its head for choosing this community in the tour of this initiative. "We are grateful that Indotel has brought this for the first time to our town Las Matas de San Cruz, and we want to extend it to every town in the province."
Likewise, the mayor of Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Virgilio Cruz Mozo, assured that the citizens of this municipality have felt extremely excited with the interactive and technological experience that immerses visitors in an augmented reality, with 360-degree protections.
“We are happy and grateful for the initiative or the balloon, as it was popularly called in this community, which shows that technology is really reaching the most remote places in the country,” he indicated.
The Immersive Dome has been brought to the Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2024 and to the provinces of La Vega and Santiago, and has impacted more than 50 thousand people in less than a year.
