“Today, as two months have passed since Alexandra's arrival in the abode of our Creator, and also as, oh God!, the first anniversary of her wedding to her husband Eduardo is celebrated, with full faith in the divine plan, I allow myself to announce that, in her memory, I will create a fund to financially support young people who aspire to university careers,” expressed Segura de Grullón in a statement released this Sunday, June 8th.
The new initiative will be called the Alexandra Grullón Academic and Cultural Fund, and its purpose will be to provide financial support to students from low-income backgrounds, especially those who share Alexandra's dream: to build a better country for all.
The program will operate in partnership with educational centers nationwide, which will be responsible for selecting the candidates and presenting them to the fund for evaluation. Priority will be given to the most vulnerable young people and, in particular, to those who lost family members in the tragedy of April 8th.
“I have appointed a Management Committee to make the necessary legal and institutional arrangements, so that in a short time I will be announcing the awarding of the first scholarships,” said Melba Segura, who also thanked the prayers received during this time of mourning: “Thank you all, because I have felt His company, your prayers have been heard.”
The message, laden with faith, pain, and purpose, concludes with a reflection that reaffirms his commitment to service: “In these moments, when I feel the presence of God very close, more than ever my life is to serve, praying and giving thanks to Him for giving me strength, because my own are not enough.”
