SAN DIEGO. — A solo home run by Manny Machado in the eighth inning tied the score, and a wild pitch in the eleventh inning allowed Tyler Wade to score the decisive run for the San Diego Padres to complete a 4-3 comeback against the Miami Marlins on Monday night.

After being down 3-0 in the early innings, the Padres started their comeback with a two-run double by José Iglesias in the fourth inning. Machado's home run, his sixth of the season, came against Calvin Faucher and tied the score, igniting the fans at Petco Park.
In the eleventh inning, Wade entered as an automatic runner on second base and advanced to third on a groundout. After an intentional walk to Xander Bogaerts, the Marlins reconfigured their defense with five infielders. However, reliever Cade Gibson (0-2) threw a breaking ball that went to the ground on a 1-2 count against Jake Cronenworth, allowing Wade to cross the plate with the winning run.
Adrián Morejón (2-2) earned the victory after maneuvering in the top of the 11th inning, leaving the Marlins' runner stranded at third.
Miami had taken the lead from the first inning with a run-scoring double by Agustin Ramirez and a single by Otto Lopez. In the second inning, Jesus Sanchez extended the lead with a 417-foot home run to center field, his third of the year.San Diego's opener, Randy Vásquez, remained solid after a difficult start, completing 6.1 innings with three earned runs allowed. Ryan Weathers, for the Marlins, allowed two unearned runs in 5.2 innings.
Cuban Víctor Mesa Jr. debuted in the Major Leagues as a center fielder in the seventh inning and struck out in his only at-bat. Meanwhile, David Morgan retired the two batters he faced in his debut in the Majors with the Padres.
