CHICAGO – Kerry Carpenter had an unforgettable day this Monday, hitting three home runs and driving in five runs, leading the Detroit Tigers to a resounding 13-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.

With his performance, Carpenter set a personal record for home runs in a single game and was a key piece in Detroit's offense, which became the first Major League team to reach 40 wins this season.
Detroit added power to the plate with additional home runs from Dillon Dingler and Wenceel Pérez, while Parker Meadows stood out in his return from injury with two hits and three runs scored. The Tigers have won 22 of their last 31 games and extended their winning streak to 11 consecutive road wins against the White Sox, tying a franchise record.Starter Jack Flaherty (4-6) earned the win by pitching six solid innings of one run, allowing just four hits and striking out four.
Carpenter opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning against Jonathan Cannon (2-7), and repeated the feat with another two-run home run in the fourth inning. In the sixth, he homered again, solo, thus adding his 13th home run of the year. In the eighth inning, with two teammates on base and the Detroit fans chanting his name among the 11,852 attendees, he hit a fly ball to center field that was close to being his fourth home run of the night. Detroit's defense also shone. Meadows made a diving catch in center field to rob Andrew Benintendi of a run-scoring hit. Riley Greene did the same in left field, sliding to catch a line drive from Chase Meidroth. In addition, a spectacular combined play between Dingler and Zach McKinstry in the fifth inning left fans speechless as they caught a foul fly ball between them. In the Tigers' international offensive, Cuban Andy Ibáñez went 1-1 with a run scored and one RBI; Venezuelan Gleyber Torres batted 4-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs; Dominican Wenceel Pérez went 2-5 with a run scored and two RBIs; and Puerto Rican Javier Báez went 1-5 with a run scored.For the White Sox, Chase Meidroth drove in the team's only run with a ground ball in the sixth inning. Miguel Vargas (2-1), Luis Robert Jr. (3-0), and Lenyn Sosa (4-0) saw action for the home team, which has lost seven of its last eight games.
