Houston, TX.- The Houston Astros will receive a hard blow to their lineup, after confirming that Dominican shortstop Jeremy Peña will be included in the injured list after being diagnosed with a small fracture in a left rib, the result of a hit by pitch received last Friday.

Although initial X-rays did not reveal bone injury, additional examinations —including an MRI and a CT scan performed on Sunday— confirmed the fracture. Peña did not participate in Saturday and Sunday's games while his condition was being evaluated. To date, the young shortstop has been one of Houston's main offensive figures this season, batting .322 with 11 home runs, 40 RBIs, 48 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases, accumulating a solid OPS of .867. According to STATS, Peña ranks second in WAR (5.2) among all Major League players, reflecting his impact both offensively and defensively. The team announced that it will report a corresponding move on the roster this Tuesday.
