New York.- President Donald Trump once again attacked this Sunday Zohran Mamdani, winning candidate of the Democratic primaries for the mayoralty of New York, whom he described as "a pure communist" and warned that, if he takes office, the city could be left without federal funding.
“He’s a communist, I think he’s very bad for New York,” Trump stated in an interview with the program Sunday Morning Futures from Fox News. “If he gets in, I’ll be president and he’ll have to do the right thing, or they won’t get any money,” he added.
The president expanded his warning to any future mayor of the city: “Whoever is the mayor of New York will have to behave well, or the federal government will be very tough on them in financial terms”.

It's not the first time Donald Trump has threatened to condition federal funds to local authorities with whom he disagrees ideologically. He had already done so previously with the state of California, criticizing Governor Gavin Newsom for his stances on gender identity and school sports.During the week, the former president also referred to Mamdani as a "communist lunatic", and personally dismissed him by saying: "He looks horrible, his voice is raspy, he is not very intelligent".
