In accordance with Mexico's "constitutional principles of foreign policy and pacifist conviction," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged to "de-escalate tensions in the region" intensified this Saturday as a result of the attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities in what constitutes the first US bombings within the framework of the current conflict between Israel and Iran. "Our embassies remain vigilant and in permanent contact with nationals residing or transiting through the region to assist them and provide them with the greatest possible consular attention," detailed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, declared this Saturday that the attack against the three Iranian nuclear facilities (Fordó, Natanz and Isfahan), "was completed with great success". In a brief address to the nation from the White House, Trump indicated that the goal of the military action "was to destroy Iran's uranium enrichment capacity and end the nuclear-war threat." In the attack, the U.S. used "between five and six bunker-buster bombs", dropped from B-2 bombers, as well as about thirty Tomahawk missiles launched from submarines and destroyers, according to Fox News after speaking with President Trump. The Republican leader had commented days ago that he would decide in the next two weeks on the possibility of launching an offensive whose official objective would be to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
