Leo XIV received Al Pacino in an audience at the Vatican

Vatican City.- Pope Leo XIV received this morning in a private audience at the Vatican the famous American actor Al Pacino, along with part of the cast of a film about the history of the car manufacturer Maserati.

This is the first meeting between the new pontiff and a Hollywood star since he was elected on May 8th, as highlighted in a statement by the film's producer, the Italian Andrea Iervolino. "The audience has been a moment of profound spiritual and cultural inspiration centered on the shared values found in the heart of the Catholic Church and in the film: family unity, love, compassion, and the importance of contributing to the common good," added Iervolino. The actor who played Michael Corleone in 'The Godfather' or Tony Montana in 'Scarface' (1983) has described this meeting with the Pope as "one of the most profound and moving moments of his life", according to the same statement. Furthermore, Leon XIV has received a replica of a Maserati model from the producer himself, as can be seen in the images released after the meeting.

The film 'Maserati: The Brothers', still in production, delves into the Maserati family from the founding of their historic brand in 1914, until it became an automotive insignia.

In May, it was reported that 85-year-old Al Pacino was joining the cast to play a businessman who supported the Maserati family in the origins of their business. Last January, Iervolino also announced a documentary about art in the Sistine Chapel that would feature the participation of Pope Francis, who died four months later, on April 21.
