Jerusalem. - The Israeli army confirmed this Sunday that its new ground operation called "Chariots of Gideon" in the Gaza Strip began with ground incursions in both the north and south of the Palestinian enclave.
"Over the past day, troops under the Southern Command, including both active duty personnel and reservists, initiated extensive ground operations in the north and south of the Gaza Strip as part of Operation 'Chariots of Gideon'," reads a military statement.

The announcement comes after the intense aerial bombing campaign, concentrated above all in the north of the Strip, launched by Israel without respite since last Tuesday, which has since then caused hundreds of deaths daily.
At least 107 people have died since midnight on Saturday until noon on Sunday, in new Israeli attacks, some of which hit displaced persons' tents in the south of the Strip, reported the Gazan Ministry of Health.
The Israeli army, in its note, speaks of having carried out "a preliminary wave of attacks" in which it "hit more than 670 Hamas terrorist targets throughout the Strip" that support its ground incursions.
The director general of hospitals, Muhamed Zaqout, in an interview with the Qatari channel Al Jazeera, warned this Sunday that many of these bombings have "directly" attacked several hospitals such as the European, the only one providing oncology services, the Indonesian, and the Awda.
"The European Hospital in Gaza was bombed with 14 rockets, destroying the infrastructure and oxygen lines, complicating the possibilities of reopening the hospital," he recalled.
On the other hand, he warned that the veto on the entry of humanitarian aid has caused "the death of 57 children and the registration of cases of immunodeficiency and chronic diarrhea among them".
