The U.S. Department of Homeland Security released a controversial video this Wednesday to 'say goodbye' to deported immigrants who, according to government authorities, committed serious crimes in that country.
In the clip, which is 24 seconds long, a succession of photographs of people is presented, who are only identified by some crime –murder, rape, sex trafficking, methamphetamine trafficking, gang member and the like–, while President Donald Trump says "bye-bye".

The piece is part of the aggressive policy advanced by Washington to end irregular migration, which Trump has called an "invasion". Among other actions, the president authorized the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to undertake raids massively, even in places like schools, shelters or churches. Benefits such as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) enjoyed by nationals of Venezuela have also been suspended.
The episodes that have caused the most controversy refer to the summary deportation of people, accused by ICE of having committed crimes, to places such as the Terrorism Confinement Center of El Salvador (Cecot) or the Guantanamo prison, instead of to their countries of origin, and without any Justice procedure having established their guilt.
The measures have been widely criticized by human rights advocates, governments and various judicial instances, considering that the express expulsion plan does not guarantee due process, undermines the presumption of innocence and criminalizes foreigners.
