Monday night saw the most important night in fashion, with the 2025 edition of the Met Gala, a benefit gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, under the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
Fashion, style, and trends highlighted the night of the Met Gala; however, controversies and surprising news were also part of the evening, with Colombian singer Shakira being one of those affected by the controversy.

Through social media, internet users lashed out at the singer, accusing her of having copied the style of the dress that rapper Nicky Minaj wore at the 2019 Met Gala.
After comparing the dresses, both in the same color palette, they noticed certain similarities in the skirt, however the style of Shakira's dress is very different from the one used by Nicky at the 2019 Met Gala.
Shakira wore a sensual and sophisticated dress on the night of the 2025 Met Gala, with openings and transparencies, tight to the body, which highlights her slender figure, in what would be her second consecutive appearance at the important gala.
Complementing the total look, the woman from Barranquilla wore a diamond necklace, loose hair with defined waves, and gloves, for a sophisticated style.
For her part, Nicky Minaj, in 2019, wore a corset-style minidress that was accompanied by a long train, very different in the front from the dress worn by Shakira, but despite the differences, internet users accuse her of having copied the dress.
The similarity between the two is only in the back, specifically in the tail, being two similar but totally different dresses.
