The singer, who was known in the art as “El Sandra de América”, passed away in the USA
Orlando, FL.- With deep sorrow, the record label R.R. Entertainment Music and the family of Dhario Primero announced the death of the renowned Dominican singer-songwriter at the age of 73.
Dhario Primero, known as the "Sandro of America" from the Dominican Republic, was an icon of romantic ballads and a fundamental figure in the history of popular music in the Dominican Republic.
According to the data, the artist passed away after battling lung cancer and heart problems.
Throughout his enigmatic and prolific career, which spanned more than four decades, Dhario Primero recorded more than 15 full-length albums and composed, along with the Dominican composer Rafael Américo Reynoso, countless songs that addressed love, heartbreak, and human emotions with a unique sensitivity.
During the 80s and 90s, he established himself as one of the most elegant and admired balladeers in the country, winning the affection of the public with unforgettable hits such as “Mi Manera”, a song that reached number 1 on the Billboard charts in Puerto Rico, remaining on the charts for over 32 weeks.
Among the most emblematic themes of his repertoire are: "Thirst for Love", "Distance is Just a Test", "I Will Return", "A Cigarette, a Guitar and a Sorrow", "The Lover", "Pain", "For You Woman", "In Memory of Mom", "I Am Like This", "Mother, Hear My Voice" and "Love Without Reasoning", among many others.
In 1997, he was awarded the Casandra Award (now Soberano Awards) for Best Video of the Year for his moving work “Tío Juan”. And in 2004, he released the album "De: Dhario Primero Al: legendario Sandro de América… Tributo", a production composed of 14 songs and a medley of more than 10 songs. The artist himself stated that paying tribute in life to his idol was "a dream come true" and that, after that, "he could die peacefully".
In his later years, he faced legal differences with his record label, R.R. Entertainment Music, related to the distribution of his work on digital platforms and new international releases. As a result, there is currently no visual material available in streaming due to these conflicts.

Before departing, he left as an artistic testament a final composition dedicated to his homeland, entitled “Sad Inventory”, a song that symbolizes his farewell and eternal love for the Dominican Republic. Today, Dominican art bids farewell to one of its most representative voices. His passion, unmistakable style, and deep love for music will live forever in the hearts of his people and in each of his songs.
