Santo Domingo.- The minister, David Collado, stated this Tuesday that wedding tourism has become an important niche in the Dominican Republic, positioning it as number one in the Caribbean and fourth in the world.
Speaking at the inauguration of wedding tourism, which began this Tuesday and will run until Thursday, the official assured that wedding tourism is growing extraordinarily in the country, registering a great direct impact on other economic activities in the country.

"The fact that this world wedding congress is being held here makes it clear the positioning we have in that niche that moves more than 90 billion dollars worldwide," said Collado.
He affirmed that this success is also part of the country's strategy to showcase the diversification of the Dominican Republic's tourism offerings.
The president of the International Association of Destination Wedding Professionals, Kitzia Morales, highlighted the leadership that the Dominican Republic maintains in wedding tourism.
Mirta Sánchez, president of the association in the Dominican Republic, said that each year more couples decide to choose the country to hold their wedding, which has a direct economic impact on various areas.This three-day Congress brings together more than 400 professionals from the sector, which includes weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries.
The conclave, organized by the International Association of Destination Wedding Professionals, is one of the most relevant events in the sector worldwide.
The international congress, whose official opening was headed by Minister Collado, is an ideal platform for the Dominican Republic to continue promoting its diversified offer in that important market niche.
During the four days of the congress, a wide agenda of business meetings, workshops, and conferences will be exhausted.
