Three members of the Haitian gang “Viv ansanm” were arrested in the Dominican Republic while attempting to acquire suicide drones for terrorist purposes, according to the director of the National Police of Haiti, Rameau Normil.
The arrest was achieved thanks to joint intelligence work between the police forces of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and occurred in the border area of Dajabón. The suspects intended to use the drones for kamikaze attacks in Haitian territory, which demonstrates the use of unconventional warfare tactics by armed gangs. During the ceremony for the 30th anniversary of the Haitian National Police, Normil highlighted the binational cooperation and reaffirmed the commitment to dismantle the criminal groups operating in the country. "We will pursue all terrorists, whether they wear sandals or ties," warned the police chief, who also called on the population to join the fight for national security.
