Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Culture Roberto Ángel Salcedo, who is a member of the executive board of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), favors President Luis Abinader presiding over that political organization starting in 2026, and assured that his leadership guarantees the unity and balance of the PRM in the lead-up to the 2028 elections.
“In a personal capacity, and I know that many colleagues share this desire, the dream that I have, because there are many people who dream, is for Luis Abinader to be the president of the party. There is a significant current of colleagues in that direction, and I am convinced that a leadership of the current president at the head of our organization would also bring tranquility and balance to the development of the next events in which the party would be involved,” Salcedo assured when answering questions on the D`AGENDA program.

He insisted that, with Abinader as president of the PRM, there is a guarantee, at all levels of the organization, of advances, consolidation, development, and growth of that democratic instrument of the Dominican people, which is the Modern Revolutionary Party.
However, the high-ranking leader of the ruling party recalled that the current government mandate has more than three years remaining, so there can be no distraction in anything other than concentrating on and supporting President Abinader in his task of continuing to do a good job of governing.
He guaranteed that, when the legal deadlines arrive, the presidential candidate and the other candidates for popularly elected positions who are elected by the PRM members will receive the support and accompaniment of each and every one of the members, militants, and sympathizers of the party in power, but at the moment the task is to continue working from the government to continue transforming Dominican society.“For that, we need to be in our functions permanently; the exercises that the aspirants do are legitimate, internally there is a level of identification with many colleagues. Personally, they are all my friends, people with whom I have cultivated friendship and affection over those years; I see it with great sympathy, but I believe that at this stage the government requires its best men and women concentrated on their official tasks,” insisted Roberto Ángel Salcedo.
