Santo Domingo.– Mr. Yanfri Vásquez Castillo approached the editorial staff of De Último Minuto to publicly denounce an alleged fraudulent scheme operated by the company Grupo LPI Muñoz, dedicated to the financing of vehicles in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos.
According to the testimony of Vásquez Castillo, the company, with address at Primera street corner Santa Rosa No. 65, Las Mercedes sector, is represented by José Manuel Muñoz, who appears as general manager, is promoted as a business of financed sale of vehicles protected by Law 483 of the year 1964, relating to the conditional sale of furniture. You may be interested in: Detainees denounce inhumane conditions at the Haina Vacation Center
However, the contract that customers are made to sign is titled as a "Rental Agreement with Conditional Option to Purchase Vehicle", a figure that, as indicated, is not contemplated in said law, which would allow to subsequently allege that it is a rental and not a sale. "They are asking for an initial payment that exceeds one hundred thousand pesos, depending on the vehicle, and they are asking to take out full insurance with the Dominicana Compañía de Seguros for an amount exceeding fifty thousand pesos, with the promise of coverage for one year," explained Vásquez Castillo. In your case, he paid RD$67,098.01 for said policy, in addition to making several deposits to account No. 824792287 of Banco Popular, in the name of Grupo LPI Muñoz. However, Vásquez Castillo assured that after suffering an accident, he discovered that the insurance contracted was actually only a legal insurance, issued by the company Midas Seguros, with an approximate cost of three thousand pesos and a validity of just one month. When claiming to the company manager, Mr. José Manuel Muñoz, he would have responded: “I am your full insurance, I am going to solve it for you, give me the vehicle to take it to the mechanic”. According to the complainant, after handing over the car for the supposed repairs, it was never returned, leaving him without a vehicle and without the money invested. Vásquez Castillo calls on the competent authorities to investigate this case and prevent other citizens from being allegedly scammed under the same scheme. He also asks for his car or his money to be returned.
