The event, attended by heads of state, governments, ministers, international organizations, and environmental experts, formally began this morning with speeches by the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres; the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, as host; and the President of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chávez, co-chair of the event.
President Abinader attends the plenary session accompanied by the Minister of Environment, Paino Henriquez; the executive vice president of the Climate Change Council and Clean Development Mechanism, Max Puig and Jimmy García, president of the National Authority for Maritime Affairs Saviñòn.
Prior to the inaugural act, President Abinader took the opportunity to converse with some of the attendees.Among the personalities with whom the Dominican president spoke was Ursula Gertrud, president of the European Union.
The Dominican president is scheduled to speak in the plenary session today.
The Dominican head of state arrived in Nice on Sunday morning and participated, along with the first lady, Raquel Arbaje, in the Gala Dinner offered by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife, where other leaders also attended the event.
Prior to his participation in the dinner, President Abinader held a meeting with King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of Jordan.
