Santo Domingo.- The political committee of the Liberation Party (PLD) will meet on July 3rd to discuss, among other issues, the recent ruling of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) that denies that organization's decision to advance the dates for the election of its candidate for the Presidency in 2028. This was reported by the general secretary of the opposition party, Johnny Pujols, in a note.

"We will be reviewing the progress in the implementation of the organizational and electoral line and the program of regional and provincial assemblies developed and those pending to be held, among other points", explained Pujols. He also said that the content of the recent ruling by the Superior Electoral Court on the aspirations for presidential pre-candidacies in that formation will be known in detail. "Based on that analysis and knowledge of the content of the TSE's decision, the political committee, as a party leadership body, will set its official position," said the leader. After learning of the ruling, the PLD delegate to the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Danilo Díaz, denied that the ruling issued last Friday by the TSE, annuls the consultation process that the party intends to organize to choose its presidential candidate. "The ruling just announced by the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) does not prohibit the Dominican Liberation Party from holding its consultation in the year 2026," explained Diaz, through a note from the organization.
