Nayib Bukele receives Credentials Letters from the new Dominican ambassador Flavio Rondón

In a solemn ceremony held at the Presidential House of El Salvador, the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Flavio Rondón, presented his Credentials to the President of the Republic of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, thus formalizing the beginning of his diplomatic functions in the Central American country.

During the meeting, President Bukele and Ambassador Rondón held a cordial dialogue on the excellent state of bilateral relations between both nations, addressing issues of common interest.

In this sense, the ambassador highlighted that “the fundamental issue that we must handle with El Salvador, and in that President Abinader and Foreign Minister Álvarez are fully aligned, is security. For us, security is fundamental, and what this country has achieved in that matter is, definitely, a finding.”

“San Salvador is today a city where there is no fear of going out, at any time or in any condition. If there is a safe place today on the continent, I can tell you with certainty: it is San Salvador. And that represents a huge leap, because we all know what this nation used to be in terms of violence and insecurity,” added Rondón.

President Bukele welcomed Ambassador Rondón with words of praise for the Dominican Republic, highlighting the country's sustained economic growth, as well as the strength and international reputation of the Dominican tourism sector. He also expressed his admiration for the leadership of President Luis Abinader in the region.

For his part, Ambassador Rondón expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and assured that his management will be aimed at further strengthening the historical ties that unite both nations since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1882, with the signing of the Treaty of Paris.

“Today a new stage begins for me, not only personally, but also in the diplomatic history between our nations. I come with the mandate of President Luis Abinader and Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez to work with dedication to consolidate a common agenda that benefits our peoples,” said the diplomat.

In a symbolic gesture, Ambassador Rondón presented the Salvadoran president with a trunk containing a representative sample of the Dominican export offer, which included emblematic products such as premium rum, personalized artisanal cigars, high-end organic chocolates, gourmet coffee, casabe, typical sweets, handicrafts, jewelry made with amber and larimar, as well as a Dominican chacabana specially designed for the occasion by the renowned designer Faraón.

As part of the cultural exchange, the ambassador also delivered a collection of illustrative publications on the history, tourism, culture, and economic development of the Dominican Republic, with the aim of promoting greater knowledge and exchange between both peoples.

With this formal accreditation, Ambassador Flavio Rondón officially assumes his duties in El Salvador, with the mission of continuing to promote a proactive, respectful diplomacy oriented towards concrete results that strengthen the historical brotherhood between Santo Domingo and San Salvador.
