Santiago.- The Children and Adolescents Court of Santiago, ordered two months of preventive detention, as a coercive measure, against two 17-year-old students of age, accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old classmate in a school in this city.

The victim's lawyer, Rómulo Sánchez, positively assessed the court's decision after accepting the evidence presented against the minors.

Sánchez indicated during the judicial process that the minors appeared very calm and rejecting the accusations that incriminate them.

The precautionary measure, consisting of two months of preventive detention, must be served in the Juvenile Correction and Rehabilitation Center, of Bella Vista in this city.

The names of the 17-year-old teenagers and the 16-year-old minor were not revealed to protect the victim's identity, the Public Prosecutor's Office indicates.

The incident occurred on May 19th of this year at the María Altagracia Jiménez high school in the Colorado sector of the municipality of Puñal, when the minor was allegedly going to get a backpack to take an exam, a moment that the young people would have taken advantage of, who covered her mouth and used other actions to commit the crime.

The Children and Adolescents Court of this city attributes to the adolescent the violation of articles 330 and 331 of the Dominican Penal Code, modified by 24-97 on Gender Violence, and article 396 of the Code for the Protection and Fundamental Rights of Children and Adolescents (Law 136-03), which sanction sexual abuse. The Public Prosecutor's Office explained that it will continue to deepen the investigations of the reprehensible act and collecting the evidence that allows them to obtain an exemplary sanction against the alleged aggressor.
