Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that this Tuesday an anticyclonic system will persist, which will maintain mostly stable conditions over a large part of the country. However, the east wind will drag clouds towards the provinces of María Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná, Espaillat and Duarte, where weak and passing showers are expected in the morning.
During the afternoon, the combination of daytime heating, the terrain's orography, and the wind direction will cause cloud cover increases with local showers, possible thunderstorms, and gusts of wind towards sectors of northern Gran Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, southern Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elías Piña, and northern Azua. These conditions could extend until the early hours of the night.

For this Wednesday, Indomet warns that humidity will gradually increase due to the approach of a trough at various levels of the troposphere. This phenomenon, combined with local effects, will generate scattered showers from the morning in La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez. In the afternoon, other showers are expected, accompanied by possible thunderstorms and wind gusts in San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, the north of Azua and sectors of Gran Santo Domingo, subsequently moving towards the southwest and the Atlantic coast during the night.
The temperatures will remain hot during the day, but will become pleasant at night and early morning, especially in mountainous areas and inland valleys. The minimums will be between 21 °C and 23 °C, and the maximums between 31 °C and 33 °C.
Forecast by demarcation:
• Distrito Nacional: Mostly clear. Cloud increases in the afternoon with some widely isolated showers.
• Santo Domingo Norte: Mostly clear, with showers towards the northern part in the afternoon.
• Santo Domingo Este: Scattered clouds with clear intervals. Isolated showers in the afternoon towards the north zone.
• Santo Domingo Oeste: Scattered clouds and occasional showers in the northern part in the afternoon.
Indomet recommends staying alert to its bulletins and following the guidelines of civil protection agencies.
