Santiago.- Hundreds of men, women and even children attended the cemeteries of Santiago this morning to bring candles, flowers and clean the graves, for Mother's Day which is celebrated this Sunday, May 25 in the Dominican Republic.
Since the early hours of the morning, the presence of relatives in the cemeteries has been noticeable, commemorating the date amidst the sadness and nostalgia that invades them, while they leave flowers and other items as is tradition to feel their close relatives.
Daña Ilda Estrella, who has her mother, María Catalina Estrella, buried in the Cristo Está Vivo cemetery of Ingenio Arriba, narrated that she always visits her mother's tomb, 52 years after her physical departure, and on this special day was no exception.
During the celebration, consulted citizens complained about the prices of the items they were buying to decorate the tombs.

During the tour of the 30 de Marzo Cemetery and the burial ground of Ingenio Arriba made by the De Último Minuto team, it was observed that regardless of the social class of the visitors, from the simple niche to the sumptuous pantheon, the common denominator was the feeling of conformity wrapped in sadness.
The flowers and candles as decoration, in an endless silence, marked the panorama in the aforementioned cemeteries, while with resignation some family members shared on this day how much they miss their mothers.
