Homero Figueroa denies that Onesvie's report on the collapse of Jet Set was delivered to the president before the PGR

Santo Domingo.- The spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Homero Figueroa, denied this Thursday that one of the technical reports on the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub roof had been delivered to President Luis Abinader before being sent to the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (PGR).

The clarification comes after a source revealed that one of the reports from the National Office for Seismic Evaluation and Infrastructure and Building Vulnerability (Onesvie) had reached the president about 15 days before being delivered to the prosecuting body.

The collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub, which occurred on April 8th, caused the death of 236 people and left more than a hundred injured, generating a technical-legal investigation process still underway. The businessman Antonio Espaillat, owner of the premises, faces more than 60 legal actions filed by relatives of the victims. President Abinader has emphasized the importance of clarifying the causes of the collapse, indicating that the questions must be answered: "What happened, why did it happen, and how did it happen?" A commission of national and international experts has been formed to carry out an exhaustive investigation. In addition, the Attorney General's Office has initiated an investigation, and the owner of the nightclub, Antonio Espaillat, was arrested along with his sister Maribel Espaillat, accused of "irresponsibility and negligence" for not having intervened to prevent the collapse of the roof.
