This Friday, local showers and wind gusts are recorded in different provinces of the country, according to the most recent forecast of the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).
The rains occur during the afternoon and early hours of the night, mainly affecting Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, San Juan and Elías Piña, as a result of a trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere.
And the weekend?
For this Saturday, the sky remains opaque in the morning hours, a product of Saharan dust. However, in the afternoon, some local showers return with possible thunderstorms and wind gusts, especially towards inland areas such as Santo Domingo Norte, San Cristóbal, Piedra Blanca (Monseñor Nouel), La Vega, San Juan and Elías Piña.
On Sunday, a decrease in Saharan dust is expected, which, along with a trough and low pressure in the western Caribbean Sea, increases humidity and gives way to moderate to heavy rains from morning hours in provinces of the Caribbean coast such as Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, Barahona and Pedernales. In the afternoon, this rainy activity moves to the Northwest Cibao, including Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Valverde and Santiago Rodríguez.
