Santo Domingo.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, will visit the Dominican Republic within the framework of the Summit of the Americas that will be held in the country in December in Punta Cana, confirmed this Monday the Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza.
During an interview on "El Despertador", the official said that the visit of the U.S. president is part of the general activities of the event that will bring together Heads of State and Government of the countries of the Hemisphere.
"The Summit of the Americas" is going to be held at the end of the year, where all the presidents of the region and the American president must come," Paliza said.
This would be Trump's first visit to the Dominican Republic as president.

The Tenth Summit of the Americas, under the theme “Building a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Future”, arrives at a key moment, when the region faces multidimensional challenges in terms of security. Citizen insecurity, organized crime, and the effects of climate change are growing threats that require a coordinated and multilateral response.
Dominican Republic, in its capacity as host country of the Tenth Summit of the Americas, has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitate a space for dialogue between governments, the private sector, civil society, and multilateral organizations. This collaboration will be key to defining and implementing public policies and cooperation programs that respond to current challenges, including security and the sustainable management of natural resources.
