Dominican Ambassador Presents Credentials to President Donald Trump

The recently appointed ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the United States, María Isabel Castillo Báez, formally presented her credentials to President Donald J. Trump, in a ceremonial event held in the Oval Office of the White House. With the delivery of credentials, Castillo Báez is officially enabled to exercise his functions as a representative of the Dominican government before the US administration, in accordance with international diplomatic protocols. The ceremony marks the formal beginning of their mission in Washington, following the official notification issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), which had announced the presentation for April 9, 2025.

In her statements through social media, the ambassador reaffirmed her commitment to strengthen ties between the Dominican Republic and the United States, with emphasis on key areas such as trade, security, and migration, where both nations share strategic interests. Castillo Báez is the first Dominican woman to have served as ambassador to Mexico, and now assumes this new responsibility with the support of the Dominican government and the firm purpose of deepening bilateral cooperation.
