Jimani. – The General Commander of the Dominican Republic Army, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, supervised this Monday the military troops recently sent to reinforce border security in the Independencia province, especially in the area bordering the Haitian community of Malpasse.
The visit is part of the deployment of 800 soldiers distributed in the provinces of Dajabón, Elías Piña, Independencia and Pedernales. Of these, 150 military personnel were assigned to the 14th Infantry Battalion, based at the El Rodeo Fortress, in Jimaní, where the high-ranking officer's tour began.

Supervision of detachments and guard posts
During his inspection, Major General Camino Pérez also visited the detachments of La 40, La Y, Boca de Cachón, Los Pinos del Edén, La Descubierta and Las Caritas, as well as the military posts of Las Lajas and Boca de Cachón. Subsequently, he moved to the Cambronal Fortress, headquarters of the B Company of the 14th Battalion, in Neiba.The supervision covered several checkpoints and surveillance points established by the Army in the area, as part of the efforts to ensure national security on the southern border.
Call for Strengthening Border Control
During their encounter with the troops, the Army Commander urged soldiers and officers to redouble efforts to combat the trafficking of undocumented persons, smuggling, and environmental crimes, among other illicit activities affecting the area.
Upon concluding the visit, he held a meeting with local commanders, where he discussed the logistical and operational needs of the personnel, and instructed them to make efficient use of the available resources to strengthen border controls.
