Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader enacted Law 37-25, which modifies article 4 of Law 4532, of August 31, 1956, with the purpose of adapting the legislation on the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons to the Constitution and the current provisions of the energy sector.
The law establishes a new legal regime to regulate the activities of exploration and extraction of oil, natural gas, and other fuels in the national territory and in the maritime spaces under Dominican jurisdiction.
The legislative change seeks to facilitate the participation of national and international investments in the development of projects related to the country's energy resources.
