Santo Domingo.- During the National Police meeting on citizen security, Minister Faride Raful presented a report on the behavior of the accumulated homicide rate, which currently stands at 8.3.
Raful explained that 23 provinces in the country record rates below the national average, highlighting the province of Hermanas Mirabal as an example. However, he warned that the figures in terms of security are dynamic and may vary in the face of any eventuality.
“Any event can alter the stability of the homicide rate or influence the number of injured or robberies reported in a certain province,” he pointed out.

Regarding comparative data, the minister indicated that in the year 2025 so far, 586 homicides have been registered, which represents a reduction of 38 cases compared to the same period in 2024, when 624 were recorded. Raful underscored that each homicide represents a challenge for law enforcement authorities, and insisted on the importance of the articulated and continuous work of the prevention system to reduce these events."We continue to work tirelessly to strengthen preventive actions and guarantee greater security for the population," he concluded.
